Frequently Asked Questions

I’m a member at the Cedar Falls location but will be traveling to Coralville, is my membership valid at both locations.

Yes it is. By becoming a member, you are automatically able to use any of your massage or chiropractic credits at any of our locations. While our price points may be slightly different at each location, your pre-paid credits will still have the same value at any location. Our staff at any location will be happy to assist you!

I’m not a member, can I still get chiropractic adjustments and receive massages at your location?

Absolutely! Non-members can still enjoy the same services as our members.

I scheduled a 1-hour massage online but received a call that it was scheduled incorrectly. How can this be prevented?

The MindBody software system we use is fantastic, but unfortunately it allows 1-hour massages to be scheduled in 90-minute time slots. Since we have many 90-minute members, and our therapists can only perform so many massages in a week, we try to reserve these spots for those members.

The best thing you can do is to make sure to always reschedule when you are at the studio. This will guarantee your next appointment is scheduled correctly and you will have the peace of mind that it will not have to get moved.

If you have more questions about this issue, feel free to speak to any of our Guest Coordinators. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and are working with MindBody to find a permanent solution.

With the CHIRO membership, my entire family can come in to receive chiropractic adjustments for one price, or do I have to pay more each time?

Once you sign up for our CHIRO membership, everyone who currently resides in your household becomes an Associate Member with us. Depending on the membership you select, you will have 2 or 4 adjustments to use. After that, each additional adjustment is only $15.

For example, a family of 4 can all come one time each month for the cost of the membership. If everyone in the family wanted to come twice that month, it will cost an additional $15 after the first four adjustments, for a total of $60 on top of the membership cost.

I have gone to other chiropractic clinics and my first visit cost me over $200 out of pocket!  What is your cost and how do I become a New Patient?

$35, that’s it!

We do not do any lengthy exam processes or take x-rays on every patient. That is something most “insurance accepting clinics” do as a way to increase their collections per patient, hence why your first visit costs so much. Instead, we perform a brief focused screening and can always refer you to another provider to have x-rays taken, should you wish or they be warranted. Over many years of practice, we have found the lengthy exams and the majority of x-rays to be unnecessary.

Our process is simple, straight-forward, and effective:
1. Give us a call or schedule online to set up your initial appointment.
2. Fill out our New Patient Intake Form
3. Meet with your Doctor of Chiropractic to go over your goals and objectives for treatment.
4. The Doctor will perform a brief screening to make sure there are no underlying reasons as to why you cannot become a patient.
5. Receive your 1st Adjustment!
6. Check-out and reschedule.
7. Go about your day, all in 15-30 minutes.

Do you take Walk-ins for massage and/or chiropractic?

Yes we do!

Chiropractic: Walk-ins are always welcome. We understand your schedule can fluctuate daily, so having to make an appointment can be difficult. Simply stop by during our open chiropractic adjusting hours and we will be happy to get you adjusted.

Massage: With appointments being 1-hour or more, we do ask our clients to schedule ahead of time. Our therapists are some of the best in Iowa, so they do book out in advance. However, there are rare instances when they will have an opening or a late cancellation. In that case, we have a cancellation or turn-away list that we call to get those last-minute clients in. If you would like to be added to that list, please let our Guest Coordinators know.

These membership options seem too good to be true, be honest, where are the hidden fees?

Unfortunately, or fortunately, there are no hidden fees! What you see advertised is what we charge, plain and simple. We take pride in our customer service and our transparency.

Why do you not accept insurance?

We feel an insurance company should not determine what is best for the patient. Insurance will also not pay for wellness or maintenance care or any service that helps “improve quality of life.”

By not accepting insurance, we are able to keep our fees lower and more affordable for everyone. There is nothing worse than knowing people want to receive chiropractic care, but do not because their co-insurance or co-pay are too high. We can focus more on our patients and you will not have to worry about any conflict of interest between you (the patient), us (the provider), and them (your insurance company).

You will always know that our recommendations for treatment are for your best interests, and not how much money we can collect from an insurance company.

Insurance companies put “limitations” on how often you can see us and what you can see us for. Without accepting insurance, you can come visit us as much or as little as you prefer.

Can I submit the receipts to my insurance company?

By being treated at MYO, you agree to not submit any claims to your insurance company as we are considered wellness and maintenance care. Your claim will also be denied by the insurance company for this reason.

I have an HSA/Flex Spending Account, can I submit my receipts to them?

Certainly! We have many patients and clients who take advantage of this.
